Our Web Portal Adapter method utilizes UtilityAPI software to complete the authorization and data transmission process.
Authorization process:
The web portal adapter authorization process uses UtilityAPI’s single-click authorization form, as bulleted below:
- A user sends a utility account holder (UAH) (i.e., utility customer) our standard authorization form;
- The UAH inputs their name, email address, online utility account username, and utility account password;
- The UAH clicks authorize.
By completing the authorization process, the UAH authorizes UtilityAPI to access its online utility account and transmit data to the identified user.
Data transmission method:
Once UtilityAPI successfully receives UAH authorization, our software logs into their online utility account, collects the relevant utility data using screen scraping software, and formats available data into UtilityAPI’s four standard products, including:
- Meter data,
- Bill data,
- Interval data,
- Accounting data.
Our Web Portal Adapter method can also collect copies of Bill PDFs, which are available as part of our Bill Data product.
