What’s changed with SCE’s website?
In mid-October, Southern California Edison (SCE) turned on an opt-in Multifactor Authentication (MFA) verification requirement for online customer accounts.
If your utility customer has opted-in to SCE’s MFA requirements, they will be asked to complete a verification each time they log in to the website, affecting our ability to collect data on your behalf.
What can you do to make sure your collections are going through?
Encourage your customer to opt-out of SCE's MFA requirements for now. Your customer can do this in the "Settings" section of their online account at SCE.com.
It's important to communicate that once your customers have opted out of SCE's MFA, they will be prompted to opt in again when visiting sce.com. We recommend you encourage them to select "Never Ask Again"
What is UtilityAPI doing to fix this?
We are developing an MFA solution, but given SCE's requirements that customers verify each time, we don't believe this is a long-term solution.
